In her studio in Caledon, Ontario, Canada, she continues to help people who have experienced loss and those seeking more in life to develop their spiritual gifts and open up to communicating with Spirit. She and her husband,

The Power of LoveThe Power of Love

There’s an old folk tale about a young mother who lost her child and is inconsolable. The wise man of the village tells her to go from house to house to find what everyone shares—and what everyone shares—is loss. It’s the universal experience.

Although we all will grieve the loss of our loved ones, we can learn how to reconnect with them. Through prayer and meditation, we can shift our awareness from the physical to the non-physical. We can witness firsthand that death is but an illusion. We can heal. We can find joy again. Author Heather Scavetta discovered that reality when she began developing her clairvoyant abilities after the death of her daughter, Elizabeth, in 2004.

In The Power of Love, Scavetta shares her personal journey of receiving visions and afterlife communication from her daughter, loved ones, and spirit guides who encourage her to persevere through her grief. Having no previous ability, Scavetta shows that opening up spiritual gifts is accessible to everyone. Through personal examples, she shares how to open your own psychic and mediumistic abilities, and she discusses the many ways spirit can reach us.

A story of celebration about the amazing and wonderful experiences that occurred since Elizabeth’s transition, The Power of Love narrates one family’s story of how they opened their spiritual gifts to see, hear, and feel—and to know beyond any doubt—their daughter never left their side.

Young Adult Author Douglas Owen

Young Adult, Science Fiction and Fantasy Author Douglas Owen has joined the JUZDIZRTS Author Event!

Douglas Owen started down the path of being a writer of fiction late in life. Encouraged by his wife, Sheila, he pushed his writing first with a well imagined novel, “I Hate Zero-G”, but found out too late that a good editor is hard to find.

While moving the novel back to the drawing board, he encountered the NaNoWriMo project, and conceptualized “A Spear in Flight.” At first it was to be a stand-alone novel, but soon he realized in order to do it any justice, the story would need to be told in four parts.

Doug’s imagination continually pushes different book ideas forward, and he now has a writing list of well over one hundred novels and short stories.

Along with fiction, Doug also writes for Self-Publishing Magazine. His column, “A Written View”, is the only themed recurring column in the magazine directed solely at writers.  He also conducts interviews of upcoming and established writers for the magazine.

With one foot firmly planted in the Science Fiction genre, and the other rooted in Fantasy, Doug stretches our imagination to the breaking point. Innovation, powerful prose, strong characters, and above all the desire to entertain, he hopes you enjoy his works.

The first book of the Spear series by Douglas Owen, follows the training of three children as they become protectors of The Realm. The intended audience of the book is young adults ranging from 12-18, but adults have adored the work as well.

It reminds us of how fleeting youth is, and how well children adapt to changing situations. We are also reminded of the strengths and weaknesses of those younger than us, and that evil will always attempt to take advantage of them.

Unlike other young adult authors, Douglas Owen does not hold back on advanced plots and themes. He treats his readers with respect, and allows them to experience both the good and the bad of growing up to be a soldier, a judge, a jury, a Spear.

“The JUZDIZRTS Author Event is an amazing venue highlighting local talent. As an author I can think of no better way to reach out to readers than participating in this event.” – Douglas Owen

Fiction Author Rick Ferguson

Sports & Fiction Author Rick Ferguson has joined the Spring 2014 JUZDIZRTS Author Event!

Rick Ferguson, 55, is a Bradford resident and has been a Leaf fan for as long as he can remember. The former high-school hockey goalie became intrigued about the team’s inability to capture the Stanley Cup since 1967. It compelled him to consider the possibility the team was “cursed,” and that led him to dream up the idea behind The Ghosts in Maple Leaf Gardens.  Rick is a member of the Bradford Writers Group.

This fictional telling reveals the reason for the team’s long drought, and how Ron Bailey, the Leafs’ young director of player personnel, accidentally uncovers a ‘curse’ that has been placed on the team. Can the curse be lifted? Before he can find the answer to that question, Ron Bailey must investigate how the curse involves a former player – Dale McCaine.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to present my work at an event like JUZDIZRTS. This is a great forum for local artists to showcase their talents, and have a fabulous cup of coffee at the same time.”

This collection of poems spans the author’s difficult journey through the trials of cancer and heart-related issues. Her deep spirituality is evident in the reflections of one who trusted in her Maker to guide her through each successive ordeal. Gale’s work is inspirational and uplifting for all that it deals with the heavy subject of serious illness. The author’s grace and quiet fortitude raises the reader’s awareness of the blessings in our lives, even in the most trying times.
Your cross before me.
The olivewood shades of ancient scrolls and scripts,
written on the rosary my hands hold –
constant reminder of Your Holy Presence…
in the wind – flowers – rising sun…
the strength of my husband’s arms,
my sister’s smile,
the blessings sent in the mail…
You are everywhere I am,
holding me in the palm of Your Hand –
in the music of Your Peace –
where I drift in and out of words.
“Thanks to Melissa for doing this event. JUZDIZRTS is such a gift for writers. Much appreciated.” – Joanna Gale

I believe the JUZDIZRTS Author Event is a great way to promote authors and let the community know there are authors among them. I was honoured to be a part of one event last year and it encouraged me, as an author, to continue writing. More people should help authors showcase their books and novels. I appreciate Melissa helping authors in this way.”
